The Modern Warfare 4 campaign opened early on October 16 for everyone who pre-ordered digitally, a full week ahead of the October 23 launch.
The setup
The story is built around a North Korean invasion of South Korea. It's a big shift from the Middle East and Eastern European settings of recent Modern Warfare games, with dense urban fights and cold border terrain throughout.
Is it worth playing first?
Yes. The campaign is the lowest-pressure way to learn the new movement before you jump into multiplayer: flexible mantling, the supine slide and the faster climbing all show up in the missions. A patch on October 21 also fixed a mission bug that was blocking some players.
