Movement is the biggest skill gap in Modern Warfare 4. You don't need to be a content-creator-level slide-canceller, but learning a few core techniques will win you gunfights before you even fire.
Flexible mantling
Mantling is no longer locked in. You can now steer, aim or cancel mid-mantle. Use it to peek over cover with your gun up instead of popping up blind.
The supine slide
Double-tap crouch while sprinting to go into a supine slide, a low, on-your-back slide that's harder to hit. It's great for crossing open lanes and surprising someone holding an angle at head height.
Mantle slide and chaining
Momentum is everything. Go straight from a mantle into a slide (the mantle slide) and from a slide into a climb without stopping. Every stop is a moment where you're an easy target.
How to practise
- Run the official movement course until the inputs feel automatic.
- Play a few low-stakes matches using only movement to win fights: no camping, no holding lanes.
- Rebind crouch/slide to a key or paddle you can hit without taking your thumb off the right stick or your finger off the mouse.
Practise without getting farmed
Learning movement in public lobbies means getting killed a lot. Our 24/7 MW4 bot lobbies let you drill slides, mantles and peeks against easier opponents while still earning XP. See the MW4 services.
